pumpthatjam follower candyflake_zup shared the vid for 'around my dream' by kazino. at first i thought, oh, pink, funny dudes, this is cute. then the singer started making really really creepy menacing faces and the nerdy guy dressed up as a woman. and they are surrounded by naked mannequins. ummm..... still entertaining. then i realized, HEY, i thought silver pozzoli did this song?! and then i found their vid for it. so who is the original 'around my dream' artist??? im pretty sure silver p and his straighforward bootleg vid win this one. either way, both are enjoyable interpretaciones.

MARUSHA

marusha's raver cover of 'somewhere over the rainbow' was her biggest hit. it sucks when your biggest hit isn't even your song. anywho, the vid features trippy 90s toys that are cute, cuddly/frightening, threatening. i like the crawling troll. and i had that dog that does backward flips. that thing ruled. the second vid is a clip of marusha heading the dj station at the 1998 love parade. WHOA. yo marusha, your house is my house and my house is your house! the song she's playing makes me think of epic leo dicaprio movie 'the beach.'

i was searching for a new jam and saw the opening 5 secs of this vid with the yellow lipstick and knew i had to post it!!! this is a bizarre song, not sure what genre it really belongs to. all i know is that stella getz has 'friends' and likes to sing about them even if they wear masks and tie her up and dance around her in a circle. my friends do that to me all the time. then i found 'dr. love,' an amazing barbie/ken/silver skirt/feather boa jam. i like the negative/positive color change effect. really slammin.

ROBOTBOYS

every now and then it's good to find some new robotic dancers to mix up ur youtube playlist. or at least i think so. so when this one popped up in my recommended vids i was stoked. nick and jeppe are the robotboys - the 2008 winners of Denmark's Got Talent. i like how one is tall and one is short and how they kind of fight with each other in each performance. adds to their winning dynamic. also i love how they paint themselves different colors and especially how they make their hair aerodynamically spiky. not so into the suit and hat look, but hey, they are weird europeans so whatever. btw i watched a little interview with them on one of the episodes and they were wearing matching thug overalls and the tall one had on a straight brimmed yankee hat. i wish they would wear that while robot dancing.

so when i was like 12 me and my sister and our best friend kristy would videotape ourselves remaking shania twain songs. for some reason we all bonded over her country pop and i will always have a strange hilarious emotional bond to shania twain. so now is the time for me to reveal this in a pumpthatjam post! my all-time fave is 'that don't impress me much' - the head to toe leopard look really stuck with me. she looks amazing in this vid. 'man! i feel like a woman' was obviously the best tune to lipsynch to when we were tweens. the first few notes of that song make me lol with anticipation for the rest of the song. btw check out the huge goggles on the foreheads of shania's backup hotties. kablam! 'don't be stupid (you know i love you)' is a jam i discovered last night, and i can't resist posting it just for the clubby beat + riverdancers combo. and the live performance of 'come on over' is included just for her styling. neon green leopard ensemble plus bratz doll-like braided/crimped dreads?! hellz yea!

PUMPTHATJAM follower candyflake_zup shared this amazing jam with me, along with the tidbit that 'run baby run' by pets is finland's most expensive video of all-time!!!! like WHAT?! are you for serious?! maybe the girls in the video aren't real people but animatronic robot creations that cost millions of $$$ to create. anywho, as far as mindless bubblegum pop goes, this one is a winner. two pigtailed pink wearing blonde twins flirting with computer generated animated bumblebees while standing on a giant sunflower? yes yes yes. i have to say something about their skirt over pants with black shoes combo is working for me. they kind of look like fugly versions of baby spice.

S.O.A.P.

on a recent trip to a thrift store i scored a cd called 'dance mix usa 1999' for $2. among the gems on this cd was 'this is how we party' by S.O.A.P. and ever since i heard it i have been seriously ADDICTED. and now after seeing the video and seeing their light blue lipstick and galactic outfits i am dying. what is it about these scandinavian groups that makes their music so redonculously catchy? it's like the gods of pop music decided to land in sweden or denmark or something. i have no idea what S.O.A.P. stands for - maybe scandinavians offer amazing popmusic. at least in my mind that's what it stands for. i kinda wanna enter a new phase of chola-dom with a light blue matte slightly glittery lip outlined in black.
