AROUND MY DREAM

pumpthatjam follower candyflake_zup shared the vid for 'around my dream' by kazino. at first i thought, oh, pink, funny dudes, this is cute. then the singer started making really really creepy menacing faces and the nerdy guy dressed up as a woman. and they are surrounded by naked mannequins. ummm..... still entertaining. then i realized, HEY, i thought silver pozzoli did this song?! and then i found their vid for it. so who is the original 'around my dream' artist??? im pretty sure silver p and his straighforward bootleg vid win this one. either way, both are enjoyable interpretaciones.

KAY FRANZES

i love when videos have absolutely no plot or meaning behind them whatsoever. there was 2% thought process in making this video. "i can do" by kay franzes has a lot of color effects that make the vid seem trippy and crazayyyy! i am DYING for that girl's hairstyle with the bun on top of her head tied with a bandana. totally gonna cop that look. also love the random shot of a troll and barbie at 1:00. also the shot of a blue kay and a red kay singing to each other is quite otherworldly. and the raspy quality to his voice really makes the song so powerful. NOT. what's up with the pointing hand at the last second of the vid? CONFUSION!

8 ARMS TO HOLD YOU

holy schnikes this is a wacked out video. yes, the plot involves a pet octopus that grows giant, eats the entire contents of a refrigerator, hears a cry for help from his owner who is on a band audition, then comes to her rescue and pushes off all the other aggressive auditioners. then the octopus makes it into the band and becomes a worldwide musical sensation. i don't know about you but i think '8 arms to hold you' could make a fabulous movie that would kill at the box office! i'll direct and star if someone provides the funds and supplies an octopus as my co-star. p.s. my fave part of the video is when the octopus dramatically pulls back and catapults out of the window at 3:06. and the guy's mohawk that looks like a fish gill.

SANDY MARTON

i swear to gawd, any 80s cheesy song with a middle eastern theme is so frickin catchy! 'camel by camel' by sandy marton has a rather perplexing title - i have no idea what he's talking about and i really don't think he does either. but it makes up for a lame title with a bangin beat! i like the girls who do weird swirly thrusty choreography in leggings and sequined tops, and i like the closeup shots of the shirts spinning with magical musical motion. the flying carpet graphics are awesome.

SAVAGE

savage is one of my fave italodisco acts so i can't believe that i never watched his music videos until now! somehow listening to the music before i saw what he looked like made it seem less like a joke. trying to lipsynch with a serious expression just does not suit the dude's face. 'don't cry tonight' is mostly super close-up shots of savage and his crazy hat that he always wears. the video for 'only you' gets more and more ridiculous as it goes on. it starts off with him knocking a glass off a table and then lifting some woman's bleeding hand from the glass. weird. then he goes and pushes his girlfriend off the bed and she smiles. weirder. then his barefoot girlfriend stands on his shoes and he pulls one tie on her dress and it falls off, then he switches out a light. okkkk. then you realize that his gf is marrying the other dude by pressing 'Y' on a computer to answer yes to his proposal! marriage by computer?! then savage appears with a gun and shoots the computer! no, he does not 'want marry'!! the last vid is a bonus live version of 'don't cry tonight' that involves savage slowly raising his head and pointing his fingers and making fists to the beats of the song. once again very dramatic. the ears, the curly hair, the hat altogether are hilar. btw, every other live performance vid of this song has him doing the exact same routine.

BAD BOY

as far as live performances go, den harrow has a pretty unique act going on. these videos KILL me - i've never seen such dramatic nonsensical movements come from the mind and body of one person. 'bad boy' is completely hilarious and has random interludes with people in bikinis, vampire capes, and big leather circles around their necks. 'catch the fox' starts off with a mini den harrow doll, complete with forehead headband, creeping across the screen. the part where he aims a bow and arrow at a target and then somehow ten arrows appear on the bulls eye is just epic. 'a taste of love is seriously one of the funniest and dumbest dance sequences i've ever seen, if you can even call the back view of writhing around on a chair dancing. and he sits for so long posing! i die. and he is a HORRIBLE lipsyncher.

SCOTCH

italo duo scotch make a wacky pair. their video for 'mirage' involves mini versions of themselves dancing arm in arm on someone's drink, dancing on an open book, jumping on piano keys, running on a record and making an appearance in the mona lisa. is this video for real? oh wait, no, it's a mirage! things just get weirder in 'delirio mind,' especially the girl wearing the top with red circles to indicate her nipple placement. not amazing.
