yes, his name is pooh-man. and yes, you will be glad you watched the video for his hot jam 'let's ride.' love the fly mamis gettin their sweet groove on in bikinis by the pool. door-knocker earrings with tiger print bikini? yes! my fave part of the whole video is when the guy with the luscious mane of hair and zip up neon jacket shows up, blows some smoke, and disappears. btw the two women in the ill-fitting velvet burgundy bikinis are funny.

HI HI HI
yes, this is another sandra post. i had to isolate and post this video on its own because sandra is wearing THE MOST AMAZING ENSEMBLE OF ALL TIME. and im not really joking. i would wear that. in the beginning of the video i feel like she is walking around in a metallic beauty and the beast castle. her voice sounds metallic too. like when super mario becomes metal mario in N64. and im feelin the slicked back hair look.

SERGEI MINEAV
i typed russian pop into youtube and somehow i found sergei mineav. he has a bajillion hilar videos but i tried to narrow it down. 'pop music' has a very high energy beginning, with sergei jumping at the camera and playing a huge circular keyboard orbiting around him. it just gets more insane as the vid goes on. 'makarena' is a russian version of the 90s megahit, very bizarre and very entertaining. i love how he mimics the real video with two of him jammin at the microphone dressed like the real macarena guys. his cow print blazer is hot. 'voiaj' is yet another cover of 'voyage voyage' by desireless. i think sergei goes on an imaginary voyage in this video. and i have no idea what the hell is going on in the last video - i just included it so i could label this post an acid wash jam. enjoy.

TICKET TO FLY
'ticket to fly' by solid base is a darn catchy jam. not to mention the fact that the girl is "flying" over new york city in a yellow fur coat and baggy thugged-out ensemble. her blonde short hairstyle is so 90s with her little hairclip in the front. also very 90s robyn style. something about this vid also reminds me of ace of base's 'beautiful life' video. i guess it must be the flying swede connection. the shots of them hanging out on the beam with a chain are so fake looking its hilar. and solid base reminds me once again that i need to bring back the ghetto ski goggles trend. how did that trend ever start, and more perplexing, why did it ever end?!

LOVE IS THE MESSAGE
i haven't posted in a few days because of the holidays but i have a really jamlicious post today to make up for it! i love the 'pickle surprise' video by tom rubnitz but i just recently found this amazing video for his song 'love is the message.' i love all the outfits in the video - i really wanna buy checkerboard and vertical black and white striped blazers now. and i completely forgot about lava lamps. maybe i will put that on my xmas list this year. and that guy with the fringed armbands and cowboy hat kills me. i wanna be at this dance party.

NAKATOMI
pumpthatjam reader 23 wolves shared this lovely gem with me. 'children of the night' by nakatomi is yet another strange example of whacked out foreign rave pop madness. except this song has a weird kind of vampirey theme, or maybe it's just that the singer kind of looks like she could have fangs. love her slight accent. i don't really understand the whole plot with those girls in the room doing nothing. but really, aren't these videos better when they don't make any sense? the random guy in the white fur coat with no shirt underneath definitely doesn't make a whole lotta sense. but you know fo sho that he's my fave part of the vid. when he starts making weird faces and lipsynching at the end of the video it gets a tad creepy.

SABRINA
sabrina salerno has a horrible singing voice, but does that matter? apparently not. yes, she has a smokin bod, but i find her videos entertaining because she is completely demented. not to mention her wardrobe of ripped denim and cutoff tees. 'sexy girl' has her on a boat wearing a shirt that says sexy girl. very creative. btw loving the teddy bear backpack. 'boys boys boys' is her biggest hit - she doesn't even care that her top practically falls off in the pool. maybe that's why it was her biggest hit. and the last video, which im guessing is called 'i need a chico' has random facts about russia in the background amongst shots of statues. interesting. the bonus vid below is a recent video of hers - she covered the cardigans' song 'erase and rewind.' i can't even believe this exists, so very strange. i never thought sabrina would take on the cardigans. bizarre.

E-TYPE
e-type is a swedish duo that produced super catchy and stupid songs - their most entertaining songs are russian and egyptian themed. did you ever notice that pretty much all pop songs inspired by russia, egypt, or the middle east from the 80s or 90s are extremely catchy? 'russian lullaby' is an example. somehow mysterious but extremely danceable if you are in a kooky mood. when the guy lipsynchs in black and white with his delicate curls and no emotion it's hilar. 'princess of egypt' is equally catchy. i downloaded both these songs yesterday and listened to them on my ipod repeatedly today. he's still got those delicate curls in the second video but he acts a bit more aggressive. something about the guy singing in that monotone voice is strangely hypnotizing.

AMANDA LEAR
amanda lear has a unique singing voice. girl got style and is the queen of feathered hair. love the 'alphabet' video and song - so randomly bizarre. and she pops a glowing smile after each letter! 'fashion pack' features some dancers with a crazy look that i love. the fashion transition from 70s to 80s is so strangely amazing. and 'queen of chinatown' is of course over the top in amanda lear style. im dying over the costumes again, especially the headpieces.

IT'S SO COLD IN THE D
pumpthatjam reader henrikai shared this vid with me. and i think 'it's so cold in the d' by tbaby is literally the worst song i've ever heard in my life. which means the video is of course horribly amazing! first off, lemme give tbaby props for creating a new look - it's called 'orange.' very fresh. the chorus of this song is so off key it makes me cringe but also smile. and why does tbaby seem so uninterested the entire time? she's singing about her boy mason who got shot down and has zero emotion. i like when they pour some of their drank in the cemetery to pay repect. classy. around the middle of the video tbaby's sweet vocals get completely off rhythm. i also like the photo collage towards the end of the video - i can't even tell what half of them are pictures of. rock on tbaby.

SAVAGE
savage is one of my fave italodisco acts so i can't believe that i never watched his music videos until now! somehow listening to the music before i saw what he looked like made it seem less like a joke. trying to lipsynch with a serious expression just does not suit the dude's face. 'don't cry tonight' is mostly super close-up shots of savage and his crazy hat that he always wears. the video for 'only you' gets more and more ridiculous as it goes on. it starts off with him knocking a glass off a table and then lifting some woman's bleeding hand from the glass. weird. then he goes and pushes his girlfriend off the bed and she smiles. weirder. then his barefoot girlfriend stands on his shoes and he pulls one tie on her dress and it falls off, then he switches out a light. okkkk. then you realize that his gf is marrying the other dude by pressing 'Y' on a computer to answer yes to his proposal! marriage by computer?! then savage appears with a gun and shoots the computer! no, he does not 'want marry'!! the last vid is a bonus live version of 'don't cry tonight' that involves savage slowly raising his head and pointing his fingers and making fists to the beats of the song. once again very dramatic. the ears, the curly hair, the hat altogether are hilar. btw, every other live performance vid of this song has him doing the exact same routine.
