i downloaded jane child's first album the other day and i've been playin it allll da time now. her hair is kind of insane - ankle length skinny braids plus crimped frankenstein hair on top?! it's like a street girl/mental institution version of a mullet. 'welcome to the real world' is a hott jam, and 'don't wanna fall in love' was her big hit. i so wanna start wearing that nose ring ear chain thingy. i wonder how she deals with that hair, i bet it gets so dirty at the bottom and gets caught in shit all the time.

so when i was like 12 me and my sister and our best friend kristy would videotape ourselves remaking shania twain songs. for some reason we all bonded over her country pop and i will always have a strange hilarious emotional bond to shania twain. so now is the time for me to reveal this in a pumpthatjam post! my all-time fave is 'that don't impress me much' - the head to toe leopard look really stuck with me. she looks amazing in this vid. 'man! i feel like a woman' was obviously the best tune to lipsynch to when we were tweens. the first few notes of that song make me lol with anticipation for the rest of the song. btw check out the huge goggles on the foreheads of shania's backup hotties. kablam! 'don't be stupid (you know i love you)' is a jam i discovered last night, and i can't resist posting it just for the clubby beat + riverdancers combo. and the live performance of 'come on over' is included just for her styling. neon green leopard ensemble plus bratz doll-like braided/crimped dreads?! hellz yea!

VIP

i decided i needed to educate myself on more canadian boybands so i started searching youtube. and look what i found - VIP (which by the way stands for Voices In Public. lolz!) their smooth, sultry, yet upbeat jam 'it's just my luck' was a top 20 hit in canada. it tells the story of the band members dancing with a girl who has a bfriend, hitting on ladies who turn out to be lesbos, and hooking up with a girl calling some other dude's name. i think their collective bad luck with women has something do with the fact that they are in a "boy"band and look like creepy men who work at a bowling alley. especially the guy with the greasy curls. usually there's only one of those in the group, like the silver haired guy in 98 degrees, but VIP obviously didn't get any hotties at their band audition.
