ever wondered what a feminine, hip-hop influenced boyband inspired by the fierceness of matadors would look like? well if you have, as i have, here is the answer. how can you watch their synchronized strange dance moves and not be hypnotized? i like when they put one leg up in the air. and DO NOT miss the magic that starts at 3:26. loving the random vogue posing as well. i don't know what kind of teenage girl's psyche this boyband is trying to tap into but it ain't the same girl who is obsessed with backstreet boys, that's for sure.
i never knew that kelly osbourne's song 'one word' was a cover, so when i found visage's 'fade to grey' i was like o damn, kelly o copied this shit! like exact copy. anyways, the visage video is so much more awesome, mostly due to the use of face paint. loving the subtle changes in his face squiggles - im thinking of being something like that for halloween. like an 80s marionette clown thats a little bit goth. im also loving 80s pink, not girly pink, but soft, fuzzy, 80s pink. i wanna paint my room that color.
hazell dean is a rare creature with a magnificent gelled spiky cockatoo look sprouting from her head. her "live" performance of 'whatever i do wherever i go' takes place in a european vision of an american truck stop, complete with an unnecessary fatty wearing suspenders and chowing down on a sandwich. WEIRD! the video for 'they say it's gonna rain' has a classy WWW.HAZELLDEAN.NET logo on the bottom the entire time. loving the narrative of this video, closeup cockatoo shots, great clips of hazell getting her bags off of the luggage carousel, and her caressing her male friend on the beach. amazing video. 'who's leaving who' starts off looking like hazell is trying to look a bit too happy and a bit too bouncy and unnatural. then she gets a bit more serious but just as bouncy and unnatural. oh hazell.
'candyman messiah' by army of lovers is so sugary demented hilar - i feel like i will randomly spurt out the words while cleaning my room or something. you gotta love the hair diversity in this group - long dark and luscious and short curly and radioactive orange with a bonus moustache. notice the gentle walking style of the guy in purple and the more jaunty, shoulder bopping style of the orange haired dude. the only reason i included the 'obsession' video was because that part at the beginning when the one guy is in a clown outfit and stuck to the wall keeps opening his mouth on like every beat is HILAR! like really, who came up with that concept and was like, i think that's a great idea, let's have him open his mouth every two seconds and act like a marionette? i guess a lot of bizarre ideas were combined to create army of lovers so it's not that random.
i will confess, i might have just a mini mini crush on david cassidy as keith on the partridge family. well maybe not so mini. but i was shocked when i saw a blonde mullet completely over the top 80s styled version of david cassidy. i don't know how i didn't know about this phase of his until now. the video of him singing 'someone' while floating in the sky in a balloon cloud is hilarious and heavenly. and his totes dramatic lipsynching in the video on top of the pops for his song 'the last kiss' is quite horrifying. i'm just gonna pretend i never saw this and go back to watching the partridge family with dreamboat keith.
'love will never do without you' by janet jackson is seriously one of the best effing songs ever. OBSESSED!!! it's just so good! i don't think she's ever looked better than in this vid. and there's a smokin antonio sabado jr. to just pump up the volume. loving the black and white and denim. there's a bonus appearance of djimon hounsou wearing underwear and some very shiny lip gloss. classic.
last summer i was in london and they played wiley 'wearing my rolex' everywhere! it's kind of irresistible. so flippin catchy, i have no idea why wiley says he likes to 'usually bubble,' i have no idea what that means. i don't care! the fox girls in the vid are quite weird, not really sure how it relates to the song, but again, i don't care! any time i hear this song i am ready to pump up the jam.
pumpthatjam follower evan shared the video for the egyptian lover's epic song 'freak-a-holic' with me. i had been obsessed with this song, listening on repeat a few summers back but somehow never saw the video. its totally amazing. i love the way he expresses so much with his hands and how he keeps pointing to himself. i guess if i had that much bling on my fingers i would wanna show it off too. and he's got some serious curl action going on. ok im going to watch the video repeatedly now.
the beginning of boyzone's video for 'no matter what' is like a slice of heaven. who can resist those breathy vocals and the way he ever so softly sticks out his tongue when he sings. total classic. chika chha hha hha. the extra 'h' is for the extra breathiness you have to use when you say it. they are so serious but trying to be so cute and cheeky at the same time. i sang this song in karaoke before and i think it's safe to say i will sing it again. and i love their accents in the making of video. also i like how that guy's eyebrow has a shaved line through it. so gangsta boyband. i kinda wanted to have some shaved lines in my eyebrows for a while. but i got over it.
i found out about sugarbaby through my friend adam, and i'm so glad i did! no really i am. totally amazing. 'whoops' makes me wanna dance my azz off. sugarbaby is a little disturbing, yes, but who can resist those moves and that waterfall of blonde hair? i love april's interlude at the end: 'im going to school to be a veterinarian because i love children.' hilar. 'i touch myself' is a bit raunchier and a bit catchier. 'i'm sexy. i'm gorgeous. i'm wonderful. i'm beautiful.' loves it. side note: i kind of want my living room to look like that. without sugarbaby in it.
'comanchero' by moon ray aka raggio di luna is a catchy tune with a fun vid. im lovin the colors in the background, would totes make a wonderful textile. and btw the bouncy dance she does the whole time is officially my new party dance. butttt my fave part of the whole video is the guy on the lower left who stands with his arms crossed and his legs really far apart the entire time. part of me thinks he isn't a real person. and the live version of the song is mindblowing - her vocals are so good it almost sounds like she's lipsynching! because she is. but who can blame her when she has that entrancing dance to perform.
welcome to the world of tonetta777. these videos are so creepy yet so mesmerizing. i feel like i am entering the headspace of a deranged, twisted serial killer who films perverse music videos before he kills another victim. and somehow im still watching. skull mask, brown body paint, tiger print thong, strangely feminine dance moves - i cannot look away. help me.
my friend bastien found this video and i have to say it changed my life. it is definitely going in the all-time faves category of PUMPTHATJAM. everything about this clip is completely out of this world. the clusters of colorful balloons, the atmospheric smoke, the green strobe lights. not to mention her wacky outfit - she's wearing a metallic bikini underneath some weird mesh dress. but the best part is the faces she makes. i literally cannot watch this without laughing out loud like a crazy person. especially when she straddles the keyboard. i recommend everyone watch this video once a day for a happier, funnier, more enriched life. loves it.
my friend peter shared this video with me, and it is absolutely, 150% HILAR. the lyrics are sooo funny and when the guy raps in vietnamese i just lose it. im trying to decide if i like the frosted tips hanging over a visor or the bucket hat look better... they are both so amazing. and i like how one guy is dressed in all white and one in all black, one is standing, one is sitting. and the set that they are on is just mind-blowing. NOT. just everything about this video makes my day better.
