i am so into this video - i loved in the late 90s/early 2000s when there would be these epic videos like janet jackson 'what's it gonna be?!' and backstreet boys 'larger than life'. everything looked like a perfect future world, with everything liquid metal like a capri sun commercial. 'freeek' has some pretty frickin amazing costumes, it looks like maja blade runner/fifth element zone. really feeling the red vinyl and spiky outfits, and those full body muscle suits!

mark 'oh 'i can't get no' came up in my recommended vids on youtube. i luh when dat happens. love the euro raver girls and their style, so yes so right now so good!!! 'tears don't lie' is a vid i've been meaning to post for a while. so philosophical and emotional. mark 'oh watches his life pass him by through a bizarre play that's going on underground, and a wise old man with a beard is his leader. 'the right way' starts off amazingly with heartfelt lipsynching by mark 'oh into a telephone. and then it delves into memories of his broken :( relationship. i love when the girlfriend goes into her backyard and starts singing. don't worry, there's a happy ending to this jam.

my friend caroline found this trippy amazing kitty kat jam. how did i go this long without jingle cats in my life? srsly?! whoever came up with this idea and was actually weird enough to pursue it and make it real is a genius. i LOVE the part when the cat is spinning around the eyeball and the music gets all psychedelic. my other fave interlude is when the two kittens harmonize while the dog barks. as soon as the jingle cats full-length move is in stock on the website im buying it. this christmas im going to start a jingle cats tradition that will carry on through generations of my descendants.

gut gut super gut. gut gut super gut. watching mo-do's video for their club jam 'super gut' was one the defining moments of my life. NOT. but it did make my day a bit more hilar. i love the singers little silver neckerchief. and club kids walking on the ceiling, vacuuming, holding rainbow feather dusters and eating popsicles near a cactus. duh of course. get super super gut with this weird bonus link i found.

claudia phillips & the kicks' video for 'quel soci la boetie' has a lot of strange elements. children in a photobooth, little people in monochromatic sweatsuits jumping, old ladies in muumuus dancing, german guys touching each other's faces, twin girls with weird braids, a baby man in a diaper with a fly on his head, men in suits, and lots and lots of face making. but who cares the song is so catchy! 'cache ta joie' is a bit more subdued but it still got the weirdness. lots of dogs bopping to the beat, forming letters of the alphabet with people's bodies plus some sign language? duh, that's a totally standard music video plot!

HOOKED ON THE HOFF

in case you were wondering, yes david hasselhoff had an illustrious singing career and yes, he made numerous groundbreaking music videos to accompany his songs.  'hooked on a feeling' is perhaps one of the most inventive music videos of all time - the plot involves the hoff as an inuit snowboarding along the frozen landscape, singing in a tuxedo above a dancefloor of waiters saying ooga chakka, singing by a muddy pond in some kind of fisherman/hunter outfit with flying angels, having a jumping contest with african boys, spinning video boxes on a train,  flying amongst seagulls in the sky, and standing on and flying from the handlebars of a moving motorcycle. just incredible. 'crazy for you' is more of a standard motorcycle jam until his pet dachshund traps him on a roller coaster ride! im guessing he really likes dachshunds because they are randomly placed throughout 'hooked on a feeling' as well.  the hoff is a complicated man and watching these videos gives us but a glimpse into his beautiful world.
