rock-afire explosion was an intense chuck e. cheese-like robot band that played in the showbiz pizza palace, started in orlando florida, from 1980-1991. these videos have also brought an intense amount of joy to my musical video brain. these characters are BEYOND! i think my new obsession has now become animatronic characters from the 80s/90s. something about them is so horribly amazing, so bizarrely wonderful! the vid for their cover of 'smooth criminal' is so creepy trippy, i can't believe this was for children?! the ice bear dude's face expression is rather strange. the cover of 'faith' is first of all genius song choice, secondly rather uplifting and inspirational. there is also a cover of 'wishing well' by terence trent d'arby hidden in there by the gorilla dude. the third video, which is titled 'moms', features the characters dancing to james brown and halfway through shifts to ballad mode with a cover of 'wind beneath my wings' by the bootleg minnie mouse with blonde pigtails. DO NOT MISS the speaking interlude about mothers after the ballad. sooo weird. the last video i included is called 'from bach to rock' and brings some classical flava to the rock-afire explosion, then goes wacky weird crazy fast. dear lord, thank you for making things like this exist!
